After announcing the first commercial discovery in the Thayyem field rapid progress was made . Prospecting and development teams started targeting similar formations and other potentially oil bearing structures. This lead to new oil discoveries that were commercially viable such as El ward, Jido , Ishar East, Omar, Tanak , Sijan, Maleh , Isba and Azraq. 

These fields contributed to a high production rate of crude oil and resulted in the establishment of oil gathering stations and further infrastructure , this was all in place by 1988
